Greetings from Aruba!

The sunshine is warm. I can see all the way to my toenails through the ocean water. I've had a ridiculous amount of banana daiquiris. I saw blue Dory fishes and yellow and white-striped fishes while snorkling, and got to spy on them in their underwater world. This vacation is awesome. :)

Dinner out on the town.

More posts to come soon, and hopefully I will be able to add some of Mike's amazing photography of the vacation then.

Aruba, Jamaica, Oh I Wanna Take You ...

Tomorrow Mike and I leave for our vacation to Aruba. I am so excited! I am all packed and ready to go (at least until I think of probably a dozen things I forgot between now and leaving).

I will make sure and update as our vacation progresses. This time tomorrow I will be on one of these:

And by this time on Saturday I will hopefully be relaxing on one of these:

Yay for vacations!

Summer Outfit Shopping

Hi friends! I did a little summer shopping this weekend to stock up on some easy breazy summer outfits that I can wear to both work and on my upcoming vacation to Aruba. Below are the looks I put together with the pieces I bought.

Mike picked out this adorable yellow sundress for me. I can wear it with a little cardigan and sandals to work, or by itself with flip flops in Aruba.

I loved the bright cherry color of this skirt. I can think of so many ways to wear this to work or on the weekends. Here is one way to wear it for work:

For Aruba, I can ditch the jacket and go with a white tank top and flip flops instead.

I purchased both the dress and the skirt at Ann Taylor Loft, where the dress was on sale for 30% off. I got the skirt at 15% off using my trusty teacher discount.

I love spring and summer - I can wear dresses and skirts every day! Now I just need to get a darn pedicure so I can start wearing my open-toed shoes!

Happy Earth Day!

In honor of Earth Day, here are some of the items I use to help cut down on the environmental impact with the purchases I buy and use.

Cherry Lane Bag 4 Optimistic Bag 2 Origami Bag 3 Paris Paper Dolls Carousel

Envirosax reusable shopping bags. I don't just use these for my groceries; I also use them whenever I am out shopping (like at the mall, bookstore, etc.).

Satire Flat Elastic

Simple brand sneakers. They are vegan friendly, made with recycled parts, and the inside cushion is biodegradable.

Yellow Birdseed and Ava Eco Friendly Reusable Sandwich and Snack Bag Set Green Lawn Art Gnome Eco Friendly Reusable Sandwich Bag Apples and Pear Eco Friendly Reusable Handmade Sandwich Bag Little Green Owl Eco Friendly Reusable Sandwich Bag

Reusable baggies. I probably haven't used plastic baggies in almost a year. These work great for taking sandwiches and snacks to school, and are so super cute to boot. My favorite place to get them is from this etsy seller.

What are your favorite earth-friendly products?

Modest Bathing Suits

Could it really be that time of year already? Is bathing suit season really this close?!

As much as I hate wearing a bathing suit, I had to give in and buy one this weekend, because Mike just booked our summer vacation ... to Aruba!! I am so very excited to being going to a tropical island for two weeks, and, even though I wish it weren't the case, tropical islands go hand in hand with bathing suits.

When thinking of buying a bathing suit, I am so glad that there are so many stores out there that carry really cute swimsuits that don't require showing a lot of skin. After all, no one wants to see my pasty skin flashing all over the place. Here are some of my favorites.

All of these swimsuits are from their new (as if you couldn't tell from the pics) summer line. Tops are about $40 and bottoms are around $30.

These cute tankinis are all available on Down East's website. Tops are about $40 and bottoms are around $30.

In addition to loving Modcloth's retro inspired clothes, they also have adorable retro inspired bathing suits. So cute!

Popina is a boutique in Oregon that sells retro-inspired swimsuits. I love that they carry Jantzen suits - a great mix of vintage and modern.

So with all of these cute options, which suit did I pick?
